Have you considered creating an alternative to the FreeToastHost Meet Our Members page?
This thought crossed my mind as I visited some club websites and was disillusioned when I got to the Meet Our Members page. In each case the home page had me hooked. The clubs sounded great... , but when I looked at the 'Members' page, it was a different story.
A club's website should make a strong case for why someone ought to pick that club to join rather than another. It's hard to make that impression when just a handful of members have chosen to make their profiles public or write a short bio.
That's unfortunate because getting to meet the members... getting a feel for the vibe of the club... is at the core of any prospective member's decision process. For me meeting the members is more than just seeing pictures of them attending a meeting. It's about getting to know them... at least a little bit.
Now of all people, I can truly appreciate that being a club's website administrator should not be a career move... not even a side-hustle. Yes, it can take a bit of time However, smart planning can eliminate countless hours at the keyboard and reduce stress!
All website administrators are vulnerable if the site's appearance is dependent on members providing content. Are you familiar with, "Too many cooks spoil the pot?" Too many site contributors is a recipe for a poor user experience and an exasperated administrator.
What if the site administrator creates a custom MOM (Meet Our Members) page? Here's an example:
In this example, a lot of the members have Facebook accounts. By adding a link to each member's Facebook profile, then Facebook keeps the members "bio" current or as current as they care to keep their profile.
This is one way to make a strong case for someone to join your club!
